"Very caring and efficient department."

About: Southampton NHS Treatment Centre

What I liked

In the past I have had a few bad experiences at the dentist, most recently , where he was unable to extract this tooth. As you can imagine I was mega nervous.

All the staff were very caring and reassured me well, they all put my mind at rest . I opted for sedation which really helped, I felt lovely and relaxed.

I was very well cared for throughout my proceedure, the nurse frequently asked me if i was ok, and encouraged me by saying I was doing well, which I really appreciated. I recoverd well, and was able to have a nice cup of tea, before heading home.

After wards Its reassuring to know they are only a phone call away if you need them.

I would reccomend this to anyone, I would have no fears in going back if I ever needed treatment again!

What could be improved

The letter stated we were to arrive at 9.40, which we did, dispite a traffice jam.

I was then not called in till 09.55. I can understand a short delay, but when your're pacifically told to arrive at a certain time, to enable the staff to do pre- surgery checks, I didn't expect to be kept waiting for so long.

I was already nervous, about my proceedure and the traffic, then having to wait a while does enhance the nerves!

At my pre-assessment with the Consultant he said, he wanted to do my proceedure, when they told me he wouldn't be doing it, I was upset as he had allayed my fears. They asked him to come and see me which was realy nice. The nurses all reassured me as well and everything was fine in the end.

Anything else?

Thank you so much you are all stars! Everybody involved helps to make this department run as efficiently as possible.

When it was time to be discharged, there was no waiting around for my tablets, it was there ready!
