(as the patient),

As someone who is a director of a Lothian art project, and has seen the difference art can make in peoples lives, and also a frequent user of waiting rooms, I know the NHS has a vast collection of Art that the public never get to enjoy, so why not hang a couple of art paintings on the walls of waiting rooms. They would have to rotate since the abolishment of magazines. I also think a black board would be nice. I understand that you don't want cross infection so you put an hand washing thingmy bob there and instruct people to use it.

I do think that people also need to be exposed to germs to build up immunity to them, so you could be making people worse not better

Many thanks for your comments and we would agree that many of the waiting rooms are very dull.

You are right to state that we need to consider infection control in patients area's and also the security of equipment.

NHS Lothian and keen to ensure all area's are patient-friendly and welcoming for patients as well as being clinically safe and appropriate.

We are currently exploring methods of displaying art in other area's of the hospital sites in a similar way to those you may have noticed in the main corridors.

We would hope to have some in place by the middle of this year.
