"Bad treatment by nurse in A and E"

About: Royal Surrey County Hospital / Accident and emergency

On Sunday afternoon, I went with my daughter to Accident and Emergency. The waiting room was almost empty yet there was still a substantial wait. My daughter had been having a lot of pain in her knee. When the nurse finally saw her he was extremely rude, clearly taking advantage of the fact that she was young. He asked her if she had taken any pain killers to which she replied no. He then stated aggressively that she clearly was not in enough pain to be there. He then asked her to leave because 'some people have cancer'. She asked him to at least take a look at her knee which he did-it was very swollen, which he told her (it was very obvious) but he then rushed her out rudely. She limped out the room to which she heard him say 'your limping now, convenient'. She called 111 the following day and their advice was to go to A and E, which she felt like she was no longer welcome to do. I have never been more dissatisfied with this service and encountered such a rude nurse.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.

We are sorry to read that the care provided by Royal Surrey does not appear to be of the high standard that we aspire to.

Please email us at rsc-tr.communications@nhs.net so that we may investigate.

We value all feedback so thank you for taking the time to let us know your thoughts.
