"abysmal experience in a and e department ."

About: St James's University Hospital

After mother been refered by locum as matter of urgency as query clot in leg which could travel to lungs,we waited in a and e for 12 hours along with so many other poorly people.

We waited for ultra scan to establish presence or not of clot and as of today(12:45) we are still waiting.

Also of concern was a grade 2 bed sore on base of spine. This was not seen to until yesterday afternoon when my daughter visited and wasn’t pleased as the nurse who we spoke to on admission at 3:00 am said they would definitely dress it etc .

She had been left in a chair without a stool with dreadfully swollen legs and told she had been frequently turned , turned in a chair !

Last night at 6:00 we finally saw a dr and had an injection in case of clot.

The staff on j29 very unhelpful , we were supposed to have family meeting and after waiting to speak to a nurse as busy talking and writing notes, I was blanked and she just walked away.

The whole experience has been one of being fobbed off at every turning and having to get annoyed before any response or basic care given.
