"Am happy to have my other foot done now..."

What I liked

This hospital and its staff are amazing. They treat you as a person, not a number. My daughter was amazed at the cleanliness and facilities at Shepton Mallet, and the friendliness of the staff. All the people involved in my surgery came and introduced themselves and my anaesthetist and surgeon gave me the confidence to have the procedure done, and I am so glad they did.

I had my bunion and hammer toe surgery on 1 June by nerve block. Didn't feel a thing, all staff were absolutely amazing, especially my surgeon and his team. After 3 days I was able to cut back painkilling relief to paracetamol 4 times a day. It is now 2.5 weeks since my surgery and have since had my stitches out. I am still heel walking and using my boot but I have done everything I have been told to do to aid recovery, i.e. elevated leg for first 5-6 days, and not to expect too much. This is a long recovery but I am prepared for that. My pin will be taken out end of June and then xrays middle of July. I am delighted. with my foot, it's been a long time since I had a straight big toe or a normal second toe. I will be back at Shepton Mallet for my other foot to be done.

What could be improved

Nothing.
