I had a gastroscopy and colonoscopy on 23rd December and the doctor, who was kindness itself, found a malignant tumour in my colon. On 29th January An excellent surgeon aided by a wonderful team removed this. The anesthetist was also first class and she made sure I was not only pain free on waking but suffered no nausea. In recovery the surgeon popped in and reassured me by telling me the operation was successful and came by with one or two members of his team to check on me daily, while I was in HDU and then in a surgical ward. I received the best of care by dedicated nurses during my entire stay. The behaviours that particularly impressed me were the surgical team introducing themselves while I was waiting with my husband, the compassion and care of all medical staff that I had dealings with prior to my admission, during my stay and while recuperating at home and the help at different times I received from admin staff including the surgeon's secretary. I cannot speak highly enough of my experience of Medway Hospital. I felt like a private patient!
