I have got so much in such a short space of time from 1st placement. My mentor has given me some great opportunities and has been open to talking with me and answering my questions. Not only has my mentor been fantastic , the multidisciplinary team have welcomed me onto the ward and given me the confidence to be proactive (under supervision) with things like taking physical observations, attending therapy sessions and even allowing me to facilitate activities with service users on the ward.
I have learnt a great deal from another 3rd year student also on my placement. She's always there to ask for advice, sharing her experiences and observing me offering constructive feedback. The HCAs are also very knowledgeable and it's so nice to see how much the service users are cared for - they really are the centre of care.
Working with service users on Seacole Ward (Springfield Hospital) has been a pleasure and has really cemented the foundations for my future nursing career. The feeling of helping and the moment they achieve progress is second to none. I don't want to leave!
