I had the misfortune to have my first ride in an ambulance and first visit to A&E - at just short of 47 years old - last Monday (5th March) after I collapsed in the street and was knocked out, sustaining what turned out to be a small fracture near my eye.
It was a busy Monday evening, but I really couldn't have asked for better care throughout my time in A&E (including the paramedics who brought me in and waited with me til I was admitted), my CT scan, and my night on the EAU ward.
All the A&E staff took time to make sure I knew what was going on, and to keep me reassured throughout the evening - and the EAU ward nurses through the night and the next morning went out of their way to make me feel as relaxed as possible while they went about their duties. I know I was kept in for observation, but I really could not fault the level of attention from the staff who made sure I had everything I needed through the night.
I hope I never have to repeat the experience, but thank you to all the staff for looking after me so well.
"Wonderful care"
