Our son was admitted to intensive care after being found unconscious in his flat. He had multiple issues including kidney failure and compartment syndrome in his right leg.
From the moment we arrived at the unit the staff were absolutely wonderful. They worked with great care and efficiency to first stabilize our son and then treat his physical injuries. Whilst doing this there was always an air of calm and professionalism and everyone took the time to keep us as his parents informed. We were in a state of shock and everyone treated us with great care and concern.
Our son spent over three weeks in the Intensive Care Unit during which time he had his right leg amputated above the knee. Throughout that time we had full confidence in the ability and dedication of all the staff. They always carried out their duties in a calm and approachable manner and this helped us enormously in keeping a positive attitude for the duration of his time in ICU.
As our son started to improve they worked with him to build his confidence and let him see there was light at the end of the tunnel. After three and half weeks of dedicated care and attention our son was moved from ICU to Surgical High Dependency and although still in hospital he continues to receive great care from all the staff
