What I liked
When you finally met a member of staff they were generally helpful.
What could be improved
I believe that any women dealing with a miscarriage should be dealt with in the maternity department, I sat for 3.5 hours....and still waiting with a 2.5 year old child and only found out what was going on when I asked. Having chatted with other ladies it seems there is little understanding or real comprehension as to the emotional issues a woman is under in this state. The room is bare so children waiting are not accommodated for at all, no one offers information on waiting times so you can make an informed decision, no nappy changing facilities and no appropriate take-away facilities for children. If you were given information you coukd at least make well-informed decisions about the children you have with you. It is obvious you will wait but ward 6a north is not the place to be waiting to make decisions about aborting a dead child...oh, and one doctor on to deal with a ward, a&e and those sent from maternity departments after a scan is a joke!!! Well, I know nothing will be done but at least this has given me something to do as I enter my 4th hour of waiting to perhaps be as important as everyone else!
Anything else?
Ward 6a needs some child friendly items! Books, or a small area that will make those people waiting through not realising there is a wait keep children a little happier...better still, deal with us in the maternity department.
"Awful really"
