"A relief to be in a good hospital."

About: St Helier Hospital

What I liked

I was treated very well by the consultants, doctors, nurses and the domestic staff all of the time. I was transferred from a private hospital in January due to major complications in surgery and because the private hospital had no ITU I was thankfully transferred to St Helier. I was admitted to ITU and then into M2 ward. I was fortunate, I know to be given a side room which I really needed. My stay was completely unexpected and very stressful to my family but no sooner had they we entered the hospital and ITU we were put at ease because the staff were so professional and kind and explained everything. M2 was excellent and I was given the option of returning to the private hospital after a few days but I chose to stay at St Helier, partly I was too poorly to face the journey and secondly and more importantly I felt in safe hands at St Helier. I am eternally grateful to everyone who helped me recover. Thank you!

What could be improved

Nothing except maybe more resources and staff. Parts of HDU/ITU appeared somewhat overcrowded with pieces of equipment everywhere that did not appear to be in use.

Anything else?

I ama District Nurse and have not entered an acute hospital recently and especially not as a patient. I have heard many uncomplimentary comments about St Helier from patients but not in my care I could not be more impressed not to mention grateful!
