"Rude staff"

About: Darent Valley Hospital / Accident and emergency

I have arrived at A&E at around 7:35 this Sunday morning. I have acid reflux so bad I keep throwing up in my mouth, my troth burns constanly, I have pain in my left arm and the left side of my chest. I have been treated like dirt by the staff so far, with the nurse shouting at me asking why didn’t I go to a walk in center or my gp instead of actually trying to do something about my symptoms. There are only 3 other patients in A&E at this moment in time so I don’t understand her behaviour. I am really upset and disappointed.

We would like to think that anyone attending the hospital would be treated with kindness, understanding and courtesy and it was disappointing that this was not the case when you visited. Acid reflux is generally a case for your GP or at a Walk in Centre, and they are the best people to advise you on the seriousness of your particular condition. However, if you feel that your left arm and left side of your chest may be more serious eg cardiac then of course the A&E Department would be the correct place to go.

Kind regards
