"Excellent Nursing Care, Improvements in..."

About: The Christie NHS Foundation Trust

Our daughter recently died at The Christie. Although the nursing care she received was excellent (especially in CCU and Ward 11), we believe the administration element of her care was not up to the same high standards.

On the night before and day of her passing, we would like to single out a doctor for particular praise. We are very thankful for the compassion she showed to the family at this difficult time.

Unfortunately, we felt the administration side of The Christie let down other elements of the organisation. The information flow to our daughter and her husband was disappointing at times, with promised phone calls to arrange appointments often not made, creating uncertainty for the family.

Overall, we would like to thank The Christie for the care they showed towards our daughter but believe improvements in communication need to be made.

Please accept our most sincere condolences for your recent loss. We are very grateful for your kind feedback regarding the care your daughter received. We are sorry to hear that the administration and communication could have been better and we would like to investigate this in more detail. We would be grateful if you could provide further information; if you are willing to do so please could you contact the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) on 0161 446 8217 or via email at pals@christie.nhs.uk.
