I spent almost 18 hours in unbelievable pain because epidural was not injected properly. I don’t blame the doctor, it happens, but apparently she was the only anaesthesiologist in the hospital as it was Sunday (???) and I was not priority because there was an accident so she couldn’t come back to me. WHY was there only one anaesthesiologist in the hospital??? I waited hours and hours to get another injection. The woman was exhausted when she came back and I was scared that something would go wrong.
I felt like the staff was robotic, didn’t care much, just coming in to check machines and that’s all. I saw about 10 different nurses and only 2 of them were nice. Nobody stayed in the room long enough to watch me or help me a bit and I was in agony! Obviously I was making strange noises and screamed really loudly but I was aware of everything that was going on in the room and I clearly heard 2 nurses laughing to each other about the noises I was making: “she sounds a bit like an animal”.
Same with breast feeding. Didn’t check me properly, my baby was starving, crying constantly. It was my first baby, I didn’t know what to do and I needed advice. After almost 2 days one nurse offered formula milk and thank god for that! My baby finally stopped crying!
They tried to help me with breast feeding but it obviously didn’t work and my baby was extremely stressed. They said that he was an “angry baby”. No! He was hungry!
And the comments they were making again! For example when pediatrician asked a nurse something about me she replied “whatever”.
The only positive thing: a doctor who was performing emergency carsarean section and her team was amazing. Really nice and professional people. I finally felt respected and well looked after, after almost 20h in hospital but when I left the operation room it was rubbish again :(
