After my child was absent from school due to illness and unfortunately missed the flu jab - I was advised by School Health that the next point of contact to administer the flu vaccination to my child would be my local GP. I contacted the surgery, and was advised it was School Health's responsibility and not theirs. Now due to her being 8 and within the at risk category - supermarkets will not administer under 12's. After offering to pay the surgery to vaccinate my child they refused and at first said it was because they are not reimbursed for the vaccine and then changed their story on a later phone call to tell me that the vaccinations that they had in yesterday were conveniently destroyed last night due to a fridge malfunction. I don't care who's responsibility it is - my child needs vaccinating and that in itself should be their main priority. They have a duty of care to my daughter as a patient of the surgery - and they are totally dismissing it and playing the "who's to blame game?"
Appalled. Frustrated. Annoyed. Angry. Upset and confused. I will be taking this further. Starting with PALs complaints system, and eventually removing myself and my family from the practice.
