"Recent visit to A&E and follow up"

About: St Mary's Hospital (HQ) / Accident and emergency

I visited A&E on 6 March 2018 because my symptoms in my head were getting worse and the treatment prescribed by my local surgery was making me feel more ill. Both receptionists were very nice and respectful.

I was then taken to UCC where I was examined by a woman doctor who kept on calling me "she" during her conversation on the phone with an ear specialist. She made me feel like a time waster and had no compassion or empathy for my condition and state of mind. I had to beg her to send me for follow up treatment/scan of my head and not to dismiss me. She should not be in that seat or job. I was then taken by the receptionist to the waiting room to be seen by one of the doctors for further examination. While I was waiting I was seen by another member of clinical staff who took my temperature and pressure. That man was very disrespectful, he said to me what are you doing here when your surgery already took swab from your ear. He was saying all this whilst he was measuring my pressure as if he deliberately wanted it to be high. He made me feel like a piece of dirt and got me sweating with stress but I was too weak to even try to explain. This man should not definitely be in his job, I've also noticed that he was treating some patients with more respect and chatting to them all the time. I was then seen by a female doctor who was very nice and respectful and helpful, she listened and then phoned one of the duty ear specialists in Charing Cross and the doctor has done more for my condition than anyone else during the past two weeks. He told the female doctor to press deep inside my mouth upper jaw and then they knew that my symptoms were coming from my jaw (TMJ disorder) and had nothing to do with my ear as diagnosed previously by my GP. Female doctor then said to stop taking medication I was taking because it was not doing anything for me, and explained my symptoms and arranged for a follow up next day at the ENT outpatients. By doing all this she made me feel much better and reduced my stress levels. This is an honest feedback as it happened.
