"Care at Hollybank Ward, Cannock Chase Hospital"

About: Cannock Chase Hospital

(as the patient),

I was in for keyhole surgery on my shoulder on 1st March. The care from all the staff, both nursing and doctors was great. However the facilities for those waiting to go to theatre for their surgery where abysmal. I sat on a hard chair in a line of chairs in a side corridor off the main corridor from 7 am till 1. 30 when I was taken down to theatre. It was like sitting in a doctor's waiting room and certainly did nothing to relieve the tension and nerves inevitable before a surgical procedure. It would certainly have helped to be in a more comfortable chair in a separate room where we were not open to be seen by everyone walking down the corridor.
