"Poor communication"

About: Stroud General Hospital

Twice now my mum as been book for endoscopy-both times we have been asked to call an number as she is on warfarin. Both times I was called back and told the nurse would look into and call back. On both separate occasions I was not called back and therefore had to chase the information. If on either occasions she had needed to stop the warfarin we would have been too late and the procedure cancelled. There needs to be a better system of contacting patients about their medications allowing time for the necessary alterations to be made before someone is cancelled wasting everyone’s time.

Thank you for your feedback to us about your mother's recent experience of endoscopy appointments at Stroud General Hospital, but we are very sorry to hear that the care and communication she received was not to the high standard we would expect. If you would like to discuss this further with us, please contact our Patient Experience Team in confidence on 0300 421 8313 or at yourexperience@glos-care.nhs.uk. In the meantime, your feedback will be shared with the Outpatients Manager and the Hospital Matron for them to review with the team. Kind regards, Patient Experience Team, Gloucestershire Care Services NHS Trust.
