I gave birth at Whittington hospital in April 2016. It was a intense and fast labour and I was almost completely not taken care off during the time. Every time I needed help they came in 30 mins later. This experience has left me traumatic memory which still appears in nightmares.
I was left at triage for almost two hours without a single midwife being there for me or reassure me or support me, until I felt like pushing. I begged for epidural but they only told me that I hadn’t reached their criteria to go to labour ward. They only reponded when I told them that I felt like pushing and they found me already 8cm dialated and rushed me to labour ward.
I felt completely hopeless and scared during the two hours left alone at triage. Today I learnt that it is not to the standard that a woman is left at triage for too long. The norm is less than 30min. Apparently the team was not doing their job at that moment.
