About: Ipswich Hospital

What I liked

There are some highly motivated staff in this hospital, however the bullying culture of Suffolk's institutions unfortunately rears its' head in this top down facility, some very helpful staff at times. with real kindness shown.

What could be improved

Unfortunately having had to totally rely on the hospital instead of local care, we found ourselves and children bullied due to the knock on effect of a highly unprofessional PCT not taking community concerns seriously. One member of staff in Paediatrics was utterly horrible each time we attended. Each time they made us feel awful for attending, (only for the genuine ailment to be diagnosed later), coupled with ill informed comments on our children's notes. We have had to go to London to access old notes and also be treated with respect. One member of the team did try and help, however that old institutional boys and girls club unfortunately trashes patients who have genuine concerns. One simple throat swab, done by a colleague at a later date, several courses of antibiotics later would have revealed the simplicity of strep throat/scarlet fever. We understand now, why the public are driven to taking their concerns to the media. The knock on effect of this person's comments has caused untold misery, we feel to frightened to attend Ipswich now, for emergencies. All underlying concerns have been diagnosed with professional kindness outside the area.

Anything else?

Bullying in our local institutions is rife both for staff and patients.
