"Appoitmnet times to see a G.P are far too long..."

About: St Andrews Medical Practice.

In order to see a Doctor ,one has to resolve to urgent route,. Having got there, Receptionist tell you that you cannot see the Permanent doctor until they have filled all the slots for the Trainees. Nor can the receptionist disturb her /him if you want a telephone consultation. Sometimes phone consultation does not materialise in the morning & one has to ring again in the afternoon.

You are told to chase up the results, if you are referred to the community investigation service.

Thank you for taking the time to give us feedback.

We do have routine appointments available but sometimes the waiting time for an appointment can be a few weeks away.

We are aware of this delay so we are currently looking at trying to improve access to routine appointments.

We are a training practice so we have GP Registrars who are fully qualified and able to see patients.

Slots for registrars do not need to be booked up first but they often have more availability.

We have prebookable slots for telephone consultations but we are unable to specify a specific time in which the Doctor will call as delays can occur during their session.

Unless it is an emergency, we do not disturb the GPs whilst they are in consultations with patients.

We normally receive test results automatically however we do ask that patients chase up their own results if necessary as we do not have the available resources to do this.

If you would like to speak in detail about any of the above, please don’t hesitate to contact the Surgery.
