About: Adult community services / Nutrition and dietetics

(as the patient),

In response to your request for feedback around the above service my views as a newly diagnosed coelic is that it would be much easier to be able to get my repeat prescription through my own doctors as they allow access to any repeat items via the internet which means you can do this at any time of day or night.

Currently I have to ring and hope someone answers (which, in my experience, quite often they don't). It is not always feasible to leave a message to be telephoned back when you are at work You then have to wait for the prescription to come through the post (did request a fax direct to the chemist but was told this is not allowed) doesn't seem to be the best use of technology and costs incurred in running the manual system.

As a newly diagnosed patient I haven't been given a list of what I could have so I can choose which items would be best for me, wasn't told how many 'units' I was entitled to and how many units any item is, leaves you on the phone not sure of what you can order, what is available, or how much of anything you can have! I think more patient information is required as sometimes I feel it is assumed that you already know certain things. I am not alone in my frustrations as a family member is also new to the service and feels the same way.

I only hope that this does in some way influence your service and therefore improve patient experience. Ending on a positive note I think it is good that this service is available to help people understand the importance of following the correct diet and making the correct lifestyle choices.
