"Stafford Hospital takes the blame for to..."

About: BPAS Cannock DCU

What I liked

I had to attend for my own safety a second pre-admission review with the Consultant Anaesthetists; this was the final assessment that providing I had not had another TIA etc then everything would be in place so the Consultant Urological Surgeon and the Critical Care Consultant Anaesthetist were all ready to go with my operation.

Whilst Stafford Hospital is oft in the firing line by its critics; the consultant anaesthetist and the other Consultants involved had all their plans sent hurtling off side by my own GP's by altering dates at the last minute on my post operate care review; i.e. was I having to pay as usual or for once would the PCT pay for my post operative clinical care?

By my GP’s changing the dates at the last minute; post the final hospital pre-operative review and in the knowledge I had signed the consent forms this meant that the consultants were back in limbo.... However on paper and statistically an operation which should be done within a specified period by the Hospital is now the subject of a delay the statistics will not show that it’s due to my GP’s.

This delay will be blamed on Stafford Hospital which has done all that it could to ensure my safety.

What could be improved

Statistics that when its not the Hospital at fault then they should not carry the blame for every one else.

Anything else?

Why do so many Stroke survivors in Stafford have to self fund their clinical & rehabilitation care
