What I liked

I visited the Radiology Dept as a walkin case on 26th May but unfortunately my GP had not sent through his request so the receptionist could not find me on the system. She was most helpful kept searching and even tried to telephone my GP but the practice was closed for lunch. She advised me not to wait because there might have been some time in establishing contact , so I went home and phoned my GP who eventually phoned me at 5.30pm saying he would resubmit his request.

I visited the Radiology Dept again today 27th May at around noon, I told thedifferent receptionist a little of the above and she said right away 'Oh you are Mr Bowden I have your papers ready'.

I then went to the B area and was seen within 10 mins and was out by 12.35.

I want to praise the first receptionist, she could not have done any more to be of help, and the second lady was also most friendly and efficient.

People are quick to complain so I wanted to restore the balance by saying thank you to all the staff who dealt with me and in particular the first receptionist.

What could be improved

Dear Mr Bowden – thank you for your very kind comments about the care and treatment you received in the Radiology Dept. at Southmead Hospital. I am glad that the reception staff were able to provide you with help and advice and then ensure that you were seen promptly when you returned the next day.

I appreciate your taking the time and trouble to acknowledge the good service you received because as you say this is often taken for granted. I will forward your remarks on to the Clinical Director and General Manager of Core Clinical service so they can be cascaded to all the radiology reception staff.
