"my experience"

Usually its easy to get through to the surgery and the reception staff are very helpful and do their best to arrange an appointment. After some nagging from my wife I went to see the doctor as I had some symptoms that needed checking out. She had read that men over a certain age should get a prostate check - a leading charity recommends this also. Men my age are reluctant to go to the GP and more so when it involves talking about body parts! I did go along and had a consultation with the GP. He said(not verbatim) that he went to med school and that patients are not welcome to Google problems and then come to the GP. His manner was extremely patronising and I felt very embarrassed and wished I had avoided going along. surely men should be encouraged to visit and get these checks done. My father in law has cancer and while it progressed he avoided the Doctor. I personally don't check symptoms on Google as I know there is various amounts of unsolicited information out there and would always seek professional guidance. However there has been a campaign from Prostate UK to encourage checks.

So my 'review' of my experience is not good. second Doctor I have seen here and on both occasions I have felt pretty bad when I left. I, as I am sure others, would appreciate a little kindness and like to feel listened too. Not humiliated and patronised.
