What I liked
Nothing!
What could be improved
Admit patients with severe wound infections - went back 3 times with temp over 40 before finally was admitted onto IV anti-biotics. Before this 2 registrars tried to convince me I was just 'unlucky to be getting flu' after major surgery...
Perhaps only change bedding when you have new bedding to put on. Don't leave people with wound bags exposed with no bedding to cover them!
Have enough staff to cover the ward when admitting other patients that require one on one care!
Anything else?
Spoke to Ward Sister and Matron whilst I was there but quality of care and dignity of care not awful. Food was also disgusting and we ordered pizza some nights! Also, NHS protocols seem to be that it's important for patients to choose their meal but not that they necessarily get the meal they chose!
Even the nurses who looked after me in dressings clinic seemed shocked I wasn't admitted the 3 times I went back to say I was getting a fever - one even visited me every day when I was finally admitted and kept saying how poorly I'd looked when I kept coming in and her 'surprise' that doctors kept sending me home. Finally admitted and ended up in for a further 7 days..
Would not recommend on any factors!
