I have been attending Douglas Street Treatment Room since mid-January. I had a biopsy taken from my cheek at Wishaw General and first attended Douglas Street to have the stitch removed. From that first visit I have received exceptional care and attention in my treatment. Even if my appointment was with a different nurse I was still given the same attention as the one before. On all occasions, I have experienced expert and efficient attention. Each nurse has gained my respect for the way in which they carry out their duties - making me feel confident and secure in the fact that I am given the best they can give in treating me and it is second nature to them. Their sincerity to the patient is commendable and I cannot thank them enough for their care and attention.
Sometimes I feel the media concentrate on the large hospital complexes - forgetting that places like Douglas Street are where the patients recovery is inevitably brought to completion. My comments in no way detract from the fact that the important procedures are carried out in the Main Hospitals - but I also feel that the smaller Nursing Departments deserve a BIG thank you! So my personal thanks goes to all those nurses who carry out their duties in Douglas Street. You made me feel so important as a patient...and that is the first step to recovery!
