About: Charing Cross Hospital

What I liked

I ruptured my Archilies tendon in December 2010. I sought treatment at the beginning of January 2011 at Charing Cross A and E department. It was a busy time in the waiting room but I was seen within an hour. The Doctor I saw was very efficient, diagnosing the rupture and making a referral to the fracture clinic the next day. She was calm and positive and caring. I left the department on crutches and the use of them was very carefully explained.

The next day I attended the fracture clinic. I was seen exactly on my appointment time and was quickly assessed. The consultant explained my options for treatment in a concise and easy to understand manner and we chose the non surgery route.

Then onto the plaster room. The three staff members who work in here are fantastic. I visited five times over the course of my treatment and each time was amazed at their ability to put me at ease and to tell me each part of the treatment. Each staff member was funny and professional and I very much enjoyed my visits to get re-plastered.

After coming out of plaster I was then treated at the physio clinic. Faye was my physio and she was excellent. Was able to show me the exercises I needed to do in an easy format and answered any questions I had in an intelligent way.

I have now been discharged from treatment after just over 20 weeks altogether and have been so thankful of each and every step of the journey. Each step of the way from A and E until physio I was treated with respect and good humour by professionals who knew what they were doing and who it seemed enjoyed their jobs. I'd like to give a big round of applause to all the staff that I met during the course of my treatment - you all made my journey to recovery a pleasant one - thank you.

Anything else?

I really appreciate the service that NHS gives us. There was not one complaint I can think of in regards to my treatment, and I really hope the staff get to know about the positive feedback about them, it cannot be easy but you all made it seem easy during my treatment.
