"I am considering taking my father home"

About: Rotherham Hospital

(as a relative),

Our story is a mirror copy of your story on home page except our father is still. alive & still in suffering. The ward (a3) has just been opened; I think this is because of overflow of patients. It seems like the nursing staff have very little equipment and no time. There appears to be only 4 on duty at one time they have been taken from other wards. I find the situation pathetic. I am not a typist, I haven’t the patience to type every thing wish I had it would be pages. Seriously considering discharging dad today he would be better looked after at home.

Dear snakebite

Thank you for taking the time to share your comments and feelings with us and be assured that we were greatly concerned by your comments and your experience of our care.

On reading your posting I immediately contacted our Chief Nurse and some of her colleagues to see if we could respond to your concerns in real time as your father was still on A3. Writing a posting on line just didn't seem an appropriate response at the time.

If you still feel that we did not respond appropriately to your concerns or that you have more to share with us, then please call Patient Services on 01709 424461 and they will be able to talk to you in more detail and we can hopefully learn lessons from your negative experience.

With best wishes
