"Not given pain relief or advice post surgery"

About: Spire Healthcare

(as a service user),

I attended Spire Hospital Cardiff March 1st. I was disappointed that I was admitted as a day case for  the PEG tube procedure which I had been originally informed by a member of the multidisciplinary cancer team that I would be in for a night or two.

Although I was in much more pain than expected, I was offered no pain relief to take home and no written instructions of how to care for the tube and hole in my tummy!?When I asked the nurse for pain medication said she could only give me paracetamol then disappeared for such a long time I couldn’t wait and left.

I have to say the the treatment and staff attitude fell extremely short of my expectations of private healthcare especially in comparison to treatment received from the NHS and inpatient treatment from a different provider which was excellent.

Today after a sleepless night in agony I have to go out in the snow to my GP for advice care packs and pain medication.
