I brought my husband to A&E at BRI after being at a wedding in Shipley. He was in a great deal of pain as his knee had locked. I had to almost carry him to the door as he could only hop on one leg. Granted it was Friday evening, but what happened to us was disgraceful.

We were triaged and told to take a seat. After 4 hours of waiting and not having been seen by anyone or offered so much as 2 paracetamol, I returned to the triage desk to ask when we would be expected to be seen.

When they realised that we had been there for 4 hours there was a blind panic, and we were rushed out of the door withan appointment to attend fracture clinic on the Monday, as we were "about to breach".

I was not prepared to accept this as he hadn't even seen a doctor, had an x ray or been provided with any pain relief / advice. I therefore took him to Dewsbury District Hospital where he was x rayed, given pain relief and admitted. The next day at Dewsbury he had an operation on his knee. He was discharged on the Sunday with dressings, pain relief, crutches and post op advice.

If we had waited for the appointment at BRI on the Monday, he would have been agony the whole weekend and left to worry at home then goodness knows what would have happened to him. Not even a dog would be left like this.

I would never go to BRI for any treatment ever, not even if I were dying.
