"A very impressive caring experience...."

About: Colchester General Hospital

What I liked

My daughter had a difficult labour, ending in a c-section but we were never left on our own, were always kept informed of what was happening and both sets of midwives and students visited her on the ward afterwards.

The atmosphere in the labour room was relaxed and softly lit and even in the operating theatre there was an atmosphere of calm and controlled efficiency.

The staff gave the impression of being really involved in the whole birthing process and we are all so grateful to them for the safe delivery of my grandson.

What could be improved

It was a very long labour and it would have been helpful if either my son in law or myself could have made a cup of tea for us. The midwives made us tea, which was so kind of them but a bit of a waste of their talents and it would have been an excuse for one or the other of us to take a "time out" break.

Anything else?

A very impressive caring experience. Thank you so very much.
