"The cancer centre made my treatment more bearable"

About: Royal Stoke University Hospital / Breast surgery

(as the patient),

After being informed in detail about the results of my breast cancer after the removal of my left breast and petscan. I thought it meant my life was soon to come to an end. It took me a long time to absorb the information and make sense of it.

However, once my treatment began (6 lots of chemo, 25 radiotherapy sessions and now on Herceptin every 3 weeks indefinitely) The cancer centre and all the staff in the different departments and all the other patients I came into contact with made my treatment more bearable. The chemotherapy was the worst as it made me very sick. The worst bits now are still needles and being canulated.

I receive my treatment at home now and return to the cancer centre for my reviews with the doctor. They also put you in touch with other services that can help if you require.
