I was booked to see the consultant at 19 weeks following a hospital admission for a gastro problem. The appointment was booked for 3.30pm and I was finally called in to see someone at 4.50pm. There was no explabation or apology from the reception or clinical staff. Luckily my partner had come with me so he could sort out the parking. I didn't see the consultant and was seen by a registrar who had old information and didn't know why I was there. The whole process was enormously frustrating- bearing in mind I am being treated for gastro in the same hospital, I had to go through everything again, all the medications etc and the admission, treatment plan etc. It really wasn't very reassuring.
The registrar did get up to speed quickly though but had to go through my case with the consultant, unsurprisingly. This meant another wait so we finally left at about 5.45pm.
I needed to book a follow up appointment but by this time the reception staff had all left, even though the waiting area was still half full. A lady quite rudely took my referral slip for the next appointment and said that someone would call me in the morning to arrange it. They didn't so no doubt I will need to chase that too.
All in all quite disappointing and not looking forward to my next experience there.
"Disappointing"
