What could be improved
I hadn't received satisfactory post operative information and was told minutes before going into surgery that my right shoulder/arm could be in a plaster cast for 6 weeks. Best case scenario was 2 weeks in a sling. The 3 page literature I'd been given only said not to drive for 24 hours. I had to leave without having the surgery because I hadn't organised enough time off work and couldn't not drive for 6 weeks due to my child needing to be places for her GCSE's starting today.
I was in the Day Surgery Unit and treated with no respect or dignity. The paper curtains between beds meant that I could hear all the very personal details of all the surrounding patients as they could hear mine.
Nursing staff were also swearing obscenely and loudly about theatre staff in front of patients.
All in all an awful experience.
Anything else?
I won't be returning to St. Albans City Hospital for the surgery that I need.
"Absolutely awful. Humiliating and..."
