"Poppy ward"

About: Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust

I went in due to my severe depression and suicide attempts/self harm-voluntarily patient.

Whilst there I quickly realised there was very little theraputic work being carried out -as this is meant to be an intensive ward it is a real disgrace.

Just keeping patients on sedative medication is not a real solution only a part:art, drama therapy and all forms of talking therapies should be provided to patients giving a holistic enviroment which encourages patients to heal/stabilise!

Thank you for taking the time to post a comment about your experience of an episode of care on Poppy Ward. We are sorry that you consider the therapeutic activities were inadequate. We can assure you the importance of providing ward based therapeutic activities is recognised. The ward does have a weekly activity programme, and this is regularly reviewed with new activities being added, but we accept there may be times when this may have to be temporarily curtailed (e.g. due to unplanned staff absence or other unexpected demands on staff).
