From the minute I arrived at the Department of Endoscopy on 23/02/18 till the minute I left, each and every one of the staff I encountered were absolutely superb. The receptionist was friendly and professional and put me at my ease immediately, and the member of nursing staff assigned to me was so brilliant. She really took her time to engage with me, find out how I was feeling, explain the procedure to me, and reassure me. She honestly couldn't have been more kind and helpful. I have had these procedures before and find them embarrassing and uncomfortable, but the nurse spent some time with me discussing pain relief options, and was so calm, patient and friendly that I really felt respected and cared for.
The Consultant who was doing the procedure was equally friendly, professional and considerate. She also took time talking to me, listening to my concerns and discussing options. This was such a lovely thing to have done because I can only imagine how busy she is. Because I felt so confident about the staff as a consequence of their expert attention(and good sense of humour) I didn't need any sedation and actually found the procedure bearable, having followed their directions about the entonox.
The whole department was immaculately clean and I'm just so impressed by, and so genuinely grateful that, with all the intolerable strain the NHS is under, the service provided by all the staff in this dept could not have been bettered in any waywhatsoever.
I was extremely anxious and worried about the procedure beforehand, but because of the wonderful staff in this unit, I won't now be so concerned before and during future rescopes.
WELL DONE EVERYONE - YOU REALLY ARE ANGELS AND SUPERSTARS!
THANKYOU!
"MASSIVE THANKS!"
