"Excellent treatment and care at Borders General Hospital"

About: Borders General Hospital / Accident & Emergency Borders General Hospital / Cardiology Borders General Hospital / General Medicine

(as the patient),

I cannot speak highly enough of my care and treatment during my recent stay at Borders General Hospital.

I was sent to BGH by my GP after a home visit. I had an extremely high temperature and rigors. From the minute I entered The Accident and Emergency Department I was treated quickly by the most friendly and professional nurses and doctors.

I was then sent to Ward 6, the Medical Assessment Ward, where again I received excellent care and treatment from all the lovely staff, doctors and nurses. As I had had a heart valve replacement 6 months ago, I was grateful for the expertise and caution shown in dealing with my infection.

From there I was transferred to Ward 4 where the standard of care was equally high from all doctors and nurses, not forgetting the cleaning staff who did a great job with a friendly manner. I even enjoyed my meals!

After being discharged I have had follow up appointments at the Acute Assessment Unit where again I was greeted by a very friendly lady at reception. My treatment from nurses and doctors was excellent, so caring and professional. A special thanks to Dr Neary for his thorough investigation, care and expertise throughout.

I am so grateful to everyone, without whom I wouldn't be feeling this well again. Thank you.

Dear A very grateful lady,

Thank you so much for taking the time to feed back to us on your recent stay in the BGH. I am so glad that you felt well cared for and confident in the professionals looking after you!

I'm also glad that you mentioned the domestic staff who are often our "unsung heroes" but who do an outstanding job in looking after patients in a myriad of ways! Here in NHS Borders, we recognise that everyone in the team plays a vital role in delivering the high quality care that we aim to provide and it is great to acknowledge those who sometimes go unrecognised!

The friendly lady at reception in AAU would have been our one and only June, who keeps the whole place ticking over and us all where we need to be! She also looks after our patients and relatives arrranging lunches, teas and coffees and parking validations in addition to all of the other components of her job! Like so many others, she is a vital part of the Acute Medical team and enormously valued within the department!

As Lynne has said above, I'd like to thank you for taking the time to let us know of your experience. We make sure that we forward all stories to staff so that they can hear directly from the patients and relatives themselves, the difference that they are making! Coming out of the end of a long and very busy winter, I know that they will be really grateful to you for telling us of your positive experience!

Best wishes,

Lynn
