"Fast and very unexpected diagnosis"

About: South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust

On Saturday 17th Feb I brought my wife into out of hours at 20.50 within minutes it was obvious they were worried as we were immediately taken through to A&E where she was immediately started on treatment and by 12.45 she was admitted onto a ward.In the following days after various scans and tests on Wednesday 21st Feb she was diagnosed with Acute

Myloid Leukaemia (AML) on Sunday 25th Feb they transfered her to Coventry Walsgrave where full chemotherapy treatment commenced during the evening of 26th Feb. I think what I would really like to say is that the treatment she has received so far has been exceptional from the first admission right through the care and attitude of all involved cannot be faulted. However ( yes I’m afraid there is a however) the car parking is a farce if it was not so serious it would be laughable. There are various points I would like to raise,if you walk along the side of A&E towards the ambulance bay you are faced with a carpet of discarded cigarette ends and general litter, the car park itself is strewn with litter and the spaces are so small that when these enormous 4x4 vehicles park in them even small vehicles such as mine struggle to fit in.But I think the worst thing is that the ticket equipment doesn’t work. There are bits of paper stuck on them saying :card only or no change given .When you approach the security staff (if you can find somebody) they are unhelpful or unable to do anything. When I left the car park at 1 o’clock on Sunday morning after a stressful and upsetting time I was faced with paying £7.50.

to get out.
