"Disabled Access at the new Peterborough City Hospital"

About: North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust

(as the patient),

I think the layout of the brand new Peterborough City Hospital leaves much to be desired in respect of ease of access for disabled people attending outpatient clinics. Car parking arrangements are limited at present due to the demolition of the former Edith Cavell Hospital (which I think was a fairly new hospital made redundant after a short working life!!).

The location of the outpatient's department involves a long walk from the reception area which makes it difficult for some disabled people who need access to outpatients.

Could access be provided closer to the outpatients reception area for people with disabilities? I feel that insufficient thought was given to this matter during the hospital's design and planning stages.

Additionally the floor covering in the main reception area is already marking very badly with rubber scuffs from footwear and trolleys etc. This does not give a good first impression of the housekeeping qualities and cleanliness within a brand new hospital!

Thank you for taking the time to make these comments about your care at P&SHFT. We are sorry that your experience was not of the quality that we aim to provide.

In order for us to look into these issues more closely and provide you with feedback it would be helpful if you would contact our Disability Advisor on Antoinette.Tuthill@pbh-tr.nhs.uk. In order for us to improve the services and access to the hospital.

We take all comments from patients and visitors seriously and strive to ensure that we use them to continuously improve patient experiences.

Thank you
