"Care, compassion and empathy to all service users"

About: South West London And St George's Mental Health NHS Trust

(as a student nurse),

I was based in the community working with a home treatment team. As I an a first-year student and this was my first placement I was initially very nervous. However, the team I was working with immediately put me at my ease and were brilliant, answering any questions I had.

I shadowed nurses visiting clients in their homes. I got the opportunity to accompany different nurses and see the different ways in which they talk to and approach clients.

The team I worked with not only provided practical care advice to me, but they also recommended books to assist me in my studies and in my career as a nurse. The staff demonstrated care and compassion and empathy to all service users.

Dear asteropews35

My name is Farai and I am the Engagement and Experience Co-ordinator for the Trust.

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback for your experiences during your placement. I am glad that you found the learning environment conducive to your studies and your positive observations of our nursing staffs' treatment of our service users is acknowledgement of the good work that is provided by the staff on a daily basis. It is very encouraging to receive such feedback.

I wish you all the best with the rest of your studies.

Kind regards

Farai
