What I liked

Presented at A&E with stroke, thrombolysed within "golden hour", recovered in stroke unit, discharged with 100% recovery.

I was amazed by:-

The speed of response

The range of tests and scans carries out within a 48 hour period.

The full explanation given for all procedures.

The kindness and consideration of every member of staff - doctors, nurses, technicians, HCAs, ward assistants, therapists and porters - to me, but particularly to other patients whose needs were so much greater than mine. The standard was maintained throughout busy shifts and regardless of how "difficult" the patient might be.

What could be improved

The level of noise and light at night made sleep difficult and could be improved - but much is unavoidable when delivering care to others.
