I believe I have been struck off the NHS list. I went on holiday overseas, seeing family and friends for 3 and a half months. I needed my daily medication for that time, but was only allowed one month of tablets ... options were get the 3 months on a private script [pay for it] or, get an overseas doctor to prescribes the three months [again pay for it $nz295!]. I chose to take the tablets with me. Asking for a private script flagged up to the NHS manager that I was overseas, and on my return I requested a months tablets and was given another private script only. I queried this and was informed that I no longer qualified for any NHS treatment ... medication or hospital treatment.
I still have nothing in writing about any of this. Internet searching flagged up that this used to be the case ... after 3 months overseas you need to reapply for NHS treatment. I am a pensioner, and told I MUST have these BP tablets always. I have had a fall and think I have partly dislocated my hip, and need to have it seen to. So I even though I worked all my life paying NHS each month, I now find I am without treatment just when I need it ! I refuse to pay for private treatment when I have paid all that money into the NHS. At the moment my doctor has said they will 'look into it' and get back to me! In the meantime I suffer. I feel like this is like third world situation.
