Our daughter was born on 23rd February. I was induced and went into labour shortly after. The midwife was calm, supportive and informative and this was a great comfort. She was excellent,
Eventually I was taken for a spinal block and assisted delivery as the baby was in the wrong position. The staff were superb. Again very supportive and effective. We had a different midwife at this point who provided very specific support and this really help the delivery. The doctor in charge of the procedure (whom we had met previously) was incredible. Her confidence and swiftness were extremely comforting to both my husband and me. The baby was born shortly after. The new midwife provided quick and effective support to get the baby to start breast feeding and again, as this had been a worry, this provided relief. Her manner was exceptional. Kind but direct and very knowledgeable.
Following the birth I received further support with feeding from this midwife and often felt like this would have been impossible without her.
We were also visited by the physiotherapist and various health check professionals. The visits were quick but thorough and purposeful. Everyone we met provided their medical guidance very clearly and with empathy. They listened to our questions and answered patiently. We probably asked some silly questions but we felt safe and comfortable enough to ask anyway. Even the lady who cleaned the room was lovely!
Overall, this incredible experience of meeting our daughter was made even more special by the wonderful staff in the birthing and post natal wards. In particular, the two midwives we spent most time with were absolutely superb. We spent more time with the second one so got the chance to learn a lot from her. The doctor in charge of the assisted birth was very impressive.
We cannot thank you all enough and you should be proud of the services and care that you provide.
"Birth of our daughter. You were brilliant!"
