Waiting to be seen in the narrow corridor, the doctor emerged calling my name and before I could even answer he shouted it out a second time so loudly that all the other patients looked up irritated and, questioningly? Rather than talking with me the doctor was talking at me.
Asking a question, I was told let me finish. The attitude of: "I do this every day, so I know what I am talking about!" is rather offensive. I was prescribed a medication with the instruction of having to take this forever. Certainly there was no time for "Have you got any questions?" The whole episode was short, hurried, unwelcoming, disinterested.
I had especially chosen to come to the Blackheath Hospital because my previous treatment with a very nice consultant who did my cataract operation was so excellent. I had refrained from writing about my experience, but finally decided that I need to vent my feelings. " Bedside Manners" is the new slogan of today, obviously something that is not taught a University, otherwise this ever more "spreading virus" in today's modern language would not be in so may peoples' mouth..
