I have had shoulder/arm pain for two weeks now. Been taking ibuprofen and paracetomol every four hours since it started. Neither seem to touch the pain. Have self-diagnosed as trapped nerve. I need stronger painkillers - just till the pain eases off, as I am getting very worn out with sleepless nights. I rarely need the doctor. Rang earlier this week and was told no appointments available till after 13th Feb! Was told to ring after 1pm to try and get earlier appointment. Tried drop-in centre, but was told they don't/cant prescribe painkillers! Self-referred for physio - appointment made for 13th Feb......Sitting with hot water bottle on my shoulder for the last week. Finally rang doctors again at 1pm today - now no appointments until 20th Feb!!! This is an appalling service. I know I am not an urgent case and I have tried to grin and bear it for the last two weeks, but now have to wait three weeks to see my GP! So basically, this is an appointment service for emergancy or 'routine check up' cases only. This service is not fit for purpose. Need more GPs. Always was a great surgery-been a patient for over 30 years, but I will now reluctantly look at moving to a more efficient surgery.
