"my consultants brilliant..nursing not so..."

About: Southampton General Hospital

What I liked

i would just like to say that i had one nurse of a night who was lovley couldnt do any more fore you,,,unfortunatly the treatment i saw that was given to the old was appaling..this wasnt by this nurse it was by another staff member..now if they didnt want to be there dont there are many more nurses that do..it took them half an hour to give this lady a drink cause they went at snails pace....then i over herd them say to this old lady if you wet your bed again youll go home...they were really nasty...the poor old lady couldnt reach the buzzer bit senile and yet cried out to go but by the time theyd got to her shed wet the bed.....not her fault....then across the bed from me was another lady she was out of it totally and yet i hered this person say what you want to hit me...the poor old lady didnt say anything.....tried to say somthing in the morning but every one to busy....the lovley nurse then got bollocked cos all paper work wasnt done because shed been running alnight because the other staff member didnt move their butt....whats the point..i think if staff dont like the old inferm ones dont work as a nurse..........other than that my care was brilliant as i was alot younger and new what was going on around me...

Anything else?

my stay in hospital very short ..your food has gone down hill since i was there in 2006..i thought it get better not worse..i dont expect the ritz but you didnt even get a choice in the mornings cerial or bread...before you had a roll with ham ,toast , cerial and alot more...my main was all over the plate couldnt eat it..now i will eat most things...wen in stay last time ate it all...whats happened...iv worked for the company that dose the dinners..whats happened

Colin – we really appreciate you taking the time to post your comment.

We are sorry to hear about the experience you describe as we have very high standards for privacy and dignity in our patient care and you have raised some potentially serious concerns. The care group manager for Neurosciences has seen your feedback and the matrons will be reviewing the wards, but it would be very helpful if you could get in touch with the care group manager’s secretary via switchboard on 023 8077 7222 so that we can identify the specific ward involved. Unfortunately we do not get your contact details from this website so are unable to respond to you directly.

Your feedback about the meals has been passed on to the catering teams, and patients are welcome to leave comments about meals in our hospital at www.suht.nhs.uk/patientmealsfeedback

If you would like us to provide you with any other specific feedback or action please get in contact with our Patient Advice and Liaison team on pals@suht.swest.nhs.uk or 023 8079 8498.
