My son was referred by his GP to the Surgical Emergency Admissions Unit with an unexplained stomach pain.
The team were professional, organised and, above all, exceptionally kind and caring.
We spent the whole of the first day in the SEAU and it was a revelation to watch the team working together.
How they are able to manage everything so efficiently is extraordinary (and to keep cheerful and caring at the same time).
Dealing with the emergency admissions, never knowing what you are going to get next and trying to match patients to beds, scan appointments, and slots for surgery is really front line work (it reminded me of watching people on documentaries working in field hospitals).
My son had not eaten for 8 days and was in considerable pain and, most worryingly, we could not seem to get to the bottom of what it was.
The SEAU nursing team were calm and reassuring and methodically went through all the necessary steps to eliminate all the various possibilities, whilst monitoring and managing his pain.
On the second day he went in for the operation.
The surgeons were lovely - explained everything in detail before and after the op.
We particularly want to thank the amazing nursing team, headed by their lovely Sister who went out of her way to make my son feel reassured, and the surgical team - those who performed the operation but also the rest of the team who we came into contact with.
Also the nurse who looked after my son after the laparoscopy/appendectomy and brought him down to the day recovery unit (brought him a sandwich and cheered him up by discussing the Liverpool Football scores!).
He is now feeling fully recovered and back at work.
We cannot thank you all enough - amazing work William Harvey team.
"Excellent Care by SEAU team"
