"My mothers Continence Care whilst in a Residential Home. "

About: Halton and St Helens PCT

(as a relative),

My Mother has lived in a Care Home in Widnes for the last 12 mths as she has dementia. Her continence care in my opinion is appalling. As far as I'm aware she's allowed only 3 or 4 pull up pants a day. This is totally inadequate.

Many a time I go in and change her, even though she has not long been changed by the staff who are kind caring and dedicated.

When she was at home I had constant battles with the authority who supplied her incontinence products.

The whole situation distresses me greatly.

I'm sorry to hear about the difficulties you've had with your mother's continence care.

The Halton LINk (Local Involvement Network) is now looking at the provision of continence care in local care homes and I would be grateful if you could contact us to discuss your concerns further.

You can contact the LINk by calling 01928 592405 and ask to speak to a member of the LINk support team or alternatively by email, dwilson@haltonlink.org.uk.
