In July of last year i was admitted for Day surgery at Holme Valley Memorial Hospital the Op was to Remove a large Bunionon my left foot.and remove the middle joint out of my toe next to it.
When i was taken for surgery i was in theatre for around 90 minutes. The reason being they found that the ligament behind my second toe was damaged and needed reparing. All the while i was awake through surgery! I was fine. I had Nurse Trisha at my side. Talking to me all the time. Everyone we're briliant!
I knew i would struggle post Op as i suffer with sciatica in both legs and Fibromyalgia and Hypermobility syndrome.
10 days in and going up the stairs i twisted my foot! It wasn't overly painful! An X-ray showed the damage!
I went for my follow up the same day and they did Corrective surgery straight away! The screws ect just fell out when the scar was opened up!
Everyone was fantastic! All i could do was say "sorry" all the time! I was put into a slipper cast for 4 weeks! Every visit everyone who works there was FANTASTIC! Nothing was too much trouble!!
4 weeks after my 2nd Op turned out my foot had Fractured higher up!!
Mr Naismith said i might have to have a metal plate in my foot!? But really there was nowhere left in that area they could put one.i was going in to Holme Valley every couple of weeks. My foot wasn't healing too good!
They then put me in a frame where my foot was suspended and unable to weight bear on it. It started to heal better.
U was also in air casts for quite a while too.
End of Jan this year i had my 6 months check up. Because thats is how long it has been!!
NOTHING at all was too much trouble for the team who dealt with me. I would Recommend them to anyone! I look at alot of them as my friends noq! As i was going so often!
The hospital is pleasant clean and has a lovely atmosphere!!
Pity not All NHS hospitals arn't the same!! .
